Social Foundation has expanded its partnership with the Ministry of Education’s volunteer management program ‘Vidyanjali’, launching an impactful initiative to preserve and promote traditional handicrafts among young students.
Program Overview
Under the ‘Save Traditional Handicrafts Campaign’, Social Foundation conducted a comprehensive training session at Delhi Nagar Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya (Girls) in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. The program focused on teaching traditional handicraft skills, particularly crochet work, to empower young girls with valuable artistic abilities.
Training Sessions
Crochet Workshop
Under the guidance of Ms. Kalpana, the Vidyanjali program coordinator and teacher, Mrs. Savitri Devi, a social worker and crochet expert associated with Social Foundation, provided hands-on training to 30 students of Class 5. The enthusiasm was infectious, with even the school’s teaching staff showing keen interest in learning this traditional craft.
Arts & Crafts Training
In addition to crochet, Social Foundation organized extensive Arts & Crafts training for the Class 5 students. The girls learned various creative skills including:
- Flower making
- Clay art
- Painting techniques
- Pottery and clay vessel decoration
- Upcycling old bottles
- Decorating diyas (lamps)
- Plate and thali decoration
- Rangoli art
- Fabric decoration with various artistic techniques
Social Awareness Session
The program also included an important session on social responsibility and community awareness. Social Foundation officials emphasized to the students that developing a sense of responsibility toward society should begin from childhood, encouraging them to become conscientious citizens.
Distribution Drive
Social Foundation distributed stationery supplies to the students, supporting their educational needs and encouraging academic excellence.
