On August 12, 2022, Social Foundation celebrated “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” commemorating India’s 75th independence anniversary with a special program in Harkesh Nagar slum, Okhla Phase-2, New Delhi. This initiative combined patriotic celebration with community engagement and artistic expression.
The program featured a Prabhat Pheri (morning rally) to increase awareness about the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, encouraging every household to display the national flag. This grassroots mobilization effort successfully engaged slum residents in national celebrations, ensuring inclusive participation in independence commemoration.
A painting competition for children provided creative expression opportunities while reinforcing patriotic themes. The competition attracted large participation, with children showcasing their artistic skills through patriotic artwork. Winners Nancy (first place), Monica (second place), and Khushi (third place) received recognition for their creative talents.
This program demonstrated our commitment to ensuring that national celebrations reach every community, particularly marginalized populations often excluded from mainstream festivities. By organizing activities in slum areas, we reinforced the principle that national pride and celebration belong to all citizens regardless of economic status.
